MMLI Receives Platinum Rating
Madisonville, July, 2010 – L-3 Communications Joint Operations Group has been a supplier for the Special Operations Forces Support Activity (SOF-SA) and has rated MMLI with their top rating, Platinum, for the support services we provided during their work with SOF-SA. Ms. Yvette D. White of SOF-SA wrote, “The United States Special Operations (USSOCOM) demands we supply our customers with top quality products/services to be in the right place, at the right time, in the right quantity, at the lowest possible cost. HUB ZONE Certification
Madisonville, KY , March, 2010 – McCoy & McCoy Laboratories, Inc has been awarded certification under the Small Business Administrations’, HUBZone Program. This certification became effective March 28, 2010 as a “qualified HUBZone small business concern” (SBC). Hopkinsville Solid Waste Authority Awards Landfill Contract
Madisonville, January, 2010 – McCoy & McCoy Laboratories, Inc was awarded the groundwater (GW) monitoring project for the Hopkinsville Landfill. Dave Baumgardner, Marketing Representative and Doug Wolfe, Director of Laboratory Services, were instrumental in the success of this award. MMLI employs a professional team of groundwater experts and currently performs this type of testing throughout the Commonwealth of Kentucky.

MMLI Leads the Nation in Crypto Recovery Accuracy
Madisonville, August, 2009 - Since 2005, McCoy & McCoy Laboratories, Inc. (MMLI) recoveries have been above the national average in all but one round of testing. This last PT study marks the sixth (6th) time MMLI’s Cryptosporidium lab, led by Philip Beecham, has led all laboratories in the performance of this testing using the Filtra-max method. The most recent EPA PT Study (#0509), MMLI not only had the highest recoveries using the Filta-max Method (73%), but had a higher recovery rate than the mean average of any one of the five EPA approved methods!
USACE – Louisville District Awards Whole Effluent Toxicity Testing
Madisonville, July, 2009 – The US Army Corp of Engineers have awarded McCoy & McCoy’s Madisonville laboratory with the testing program for this district. Chronic whole effluent toxicity tests (WET) are to be conducted on surface and effluent waters collected from inflow tributaries to selected reservoir projects. Two organisms will be utilized on all test samples, along with control samples and 5 sample dilutions. All data will be provided to the Government via electronic format and PDF file of the final report.
Automatic Temperature Data Loggers Are Now Used
Madisonville, May, 2009 – In order to enhance our temperature monitoring MMLI has installed Dickson data loggers on all critical instruments that require constant temperature recording. “As we continue to enhance the quality of our data, it is only reasonable that we maintain control of all of our instruments. Incubators, ovens, & laboratory coolers are no less important that gas chromatographs or ICP’s”, stated Mike Baumgardner, VP of MMLI. Temperature monitoring within the environmental field only requires a daily recording; however MMLI is continuing to develop food safety test methods and this monitoring ensures our capability to meet more stringent QA . With the new Dickson Wireless Data Loggers we are able to monitor each instrument every 15 minutes. Veolia Water – Oldham County Sewer District Awards KPDES Testing To MMLI
Louisville, KY< April, 2009 – Veolia/OCSD has awarded all KPDES testing to MMLI beginning April 6. Mr. Rick Retz of Veolia stated the decision was based on McCoy & McCoy’s experience and the reputation we had statewide. Mr. Jason Blair of MMLI’s Louisville office will direct this project.
MMLI Upgrades Organic Testing
Madisonville, March, 2009 – The Organic department received two new Agilent Gas Chromatograph instruments. The updated instrumentation will enhance the delivery of data, enhance accuracy, and are more efficient to operate said; Shaun West, Senior Organic Chemist oversees this department. “In this time of economic stress it’s good to see that our company is moving forward”.
Cryptosporidium Continues to Grow
Madisonville, March, 2009 – MMLI’s cryptosporidium testing department continues to grow. Kentucky, Virginia and West Virginia are the leading areas. Ice Storm Slows But Does Not Stop Us
Madisonville/Paducah, February, 2009 - A winter storm for the ages hit western KY January 27, 2009. Power and/or communications were out for some for over 20 days. The Madisonville laboratory was without power for 10 days and unfortunately without any type of communications for 3 days. But with the commitment and dedication of a group of employees, generators were fired-up and employees bared the cold laboratory to either continue testing or direct samples to our laboratories, in Lexington or Pikeville. As a result of this disaster MMLI has begun the work to develop a comprehensive disaster plan.
MMLI Gets New Updated Laboratory Sample Management System
Madisonville, February, 2009 – Perkin Elmer’s “LabWorks”, (a software that tracks samples from submittal to reporting) has installed an updated version. This new version has multiple enhancements, but the most notably is additional QA/QC provisions. “We are happy to be able to provide behind the scenes service to our customers. MMLI Begins in-house Testing for EPA 1631 & EPA 245.7
Madisonville, July, 2008 – As the demand grew for this testing, MMLI responded by purchasing a CETAC, QuickTrace M-8000 Mercury Analyzer. This instrument utilizes CVAFS technology to easily achieve ultra-low levels of Hg (0.5 ppt IDL). Both EPA 245.7 & EPA 1631 methods can be performed using this instrument. Hardin County Water District #1 Renews Testing
Louisville, June, 2008 – MMLI is proud to be able to serve HCWD #1 for another year. After struggling with compliance reporting issues in 2006 HCWD #1 contracted with MMLI to be their primary testing provider for SDWA compliance testing. MMLI Names New Western Region Marketing Rep
Madisonville, April, 2008 – Dave Baumgardner has been promoted to the Western KY Marketing Representative position. Dave has been with MMLI since graduating from Murray State University in 2001. Dave has a BS, in Business Administraion. Dave began his career in our Field Services Department, then became the Paducah Laboratory Manager.
Commonwealth of Kentucky Awards Contract
Madisonville, March, 2008 – The Commonwealth of Kentucky has awarded McCoy & McCoy Laboratories, Inc. a contract to provide environmental testing for all state agencies. The contract is for one year with four annual options. MMLI has held this contract for ten years and has provoded the all state agencies with prompt and professional services.
MMLI Names New Safe Drinking Water Coordinator
Madisonville, March, 2008 - Mark DeMoss has been promoted as the Safe Drinking Water
Coordinator for McCoy & McCoy Laboratories. Mark has been employed with MMLI for 17
years and has a BS in Agricultural Science from western Kentucky University. His last position
as the Western Region Marketing representative has provided Mark with a true knowledge of
the expectations our customers have regarding their potable water testing.
